John Pryor

Mr. John Richard Pryor
(August 20, 1954 - April 30, 2013)

John "Richard" Pryor was born in Limestone County, Alabama on August 20, 1954 to Mr. Thornton Pryor Sr., and the late Mrs. Jewell Dean Tibbs Pryor. Brother Pryor was called home on April 30, 2013. He was educated in the Limestone and Madison County School Systems. He was a 1973 graduate of Sparkman High School. Richard later served in the United States Air Force.

Richard was an all-around great man to many people. From driving buses to fixing on cars he, knew he could do anything he put his mind to. Richard had many hobbies like fishing, cooking, and traveling. He was also an avid bowler.

Richard became a true man of God at a very young age and became a member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church. A few years later, he not only became a member of Saint Bartley Primitive Baptist Church, but he preached his first sermon there. After studying ministry a little further, Richard became a member and minister at Fletcher's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church #1 (Madison, AL) and continued his membership and study's until his passing.

Brother Pryor had many passions, his greatest being his deep love for his children and grandchildren. He was the most loving father that many people admired and adored.

Richard was preceded in death by one grandchild Angel Pryor, and one sister, Betty Lou Pryor.

Richard's memory will live on with his three beautifully loving daughters who he loved dearly: LaShonna Pryor (Joel) Smith, Harvest, AL, Tamara Jelnez Pryor, Nashville, TN, and Baby Girl Destiny (Danielle) Pryor, Huntsville, AL; his father: Thornton Pryor Sr.; his grandchildren, where just the thought of them would light up his world: Heaven Pryor, Ross Townsend, Harmonie Pryor, Myrical Pryor, Hakeem Pryor, and Hasson Pryor; the loving mother of his three beautiful daughters, Deborah Denise Waller, Huntsville, AL. He is also survived by four Sisters: Carolyn Pryor (Lester) Townsend, Madison AL, Zelma Pryor (Bobby) Lockhart, Harvest AL, Jacqueline Pryor (Vaughn) Muhammad and little sister, Nina Alise Muhammad, both of Atlanta GA; four brothers: William (Cynthia) Pryor, Waldorf MD, Timothy (Heather) Pryor, Cornelius NC, Thornton Pryor Jr., Nashville, TN, and Alfonzo Pryor Sr., Harvest AL; two maternal aunts: Agnes (Henry) Pendleton, Decatur AL; great-aunt: Birda Mishaw, Nashville TN, two paternal Aunts: Dorthy White, Huntsville AL, and Mandella Shoulders, Athens, AL, and a host of family, friends, nieces, nephews, and many "adopted children".

Funeral service will be 12 noon on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Fletchers Chapel Primitive Baptist Church (30592 Hardiman Road, Madison, AL 35756) with Pastor Kenneth B. Lankford, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in the Faith Memorial Park. Mr. Pryor will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013; and from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Royal Funeral Home.
